Redefining Freedom: Understanding Reproductive Justice Beyond Choice
Coined by Black women activists in the 1990s, the term reproductive justice expands the conversation beyond individual choice to address the social, economic, and political conditions that influence our reproductive decisions. In essence, reproductive justice is about more than choice; it’s about access, equity, and the right to parent freely and safely. It challenges us to look beyond legal rights to the structural barriers that prevent marginalized communities from exercising those rights. In this blog, we’ll explore what reproductive justice means, why it matters, and how we can advocate for a world where reproductive freedom is a reality for all.
